The idea of this book are transcribed therapy sessions to which the author provides some back stories at times. While I thought this to be brave at first it later on struck me as a cheap way to write a book without any effort what so ever. The author is very authentic throughout the book and some choices do make you cringe quite hard ( which is a plus!). The depiction of mental health and the reactions of the psychiatrist make me wonder if she is even licensed. There is little to no social awareness or knowledge to be taken from that book. While there is somewhat of a trigger warning in there I would say it does not do the horrific and unreflected depiction of eating disorders justice at all.
I enjoyed the first book - however if I could go back in time and stop myself from buying and reading that book I would.
I do not find it insightful nor helpful what so ever, the positive things about that book would be that it is beautiful on your book shelf, it reads quite quickly and does provide an insight in how messy one’s mind can be. There are however many books which would tick all those boxes and do not come of as juvenile and unreflected and cheap.
