I felt this was a very intense book, emotionally convincing, with a good plot and some eroticism. I enjoyed it a lot. This is part three of the Alien Huntress-series. It would be best to read the other titles first (see below for a list).

Nach ihrer ersten Reise rund um die Welt in der nördlichen Halbkugel in 'Long way round', reisen Ewan McGregor und Charley Boorman diesmal 'nach unten' (down): Von Schottland südwärts durch Europa nach Afrika, und dort einmal längs von Norden nach Süden, alles per Motorrad, begleitet von ein paar Leuten, die Kameras bedienen und sich um Organisatorisches kümmern. Die Reise ist interessant und humorvoll, dabei auch durchaus nicht ungefährlich - Mensch und Tier in Afrika können ein echtes Risiko darstellen. Wie bei 'Long way round' sollte die Serie jedem Spaß machen, der sich für Reisedokus, Motorräder oder auch schlicht McGregor interessiert. Einziger negativer Punkt für mich ist, genau wie bei der ersten Serie, dass manches arg reduziert und gehetzt ist. Mir wäre es lieber gewesen, wenn man ein paar Episoden mehr gemacht und sich für die Reise etwas mehr Zeit gelassen hätte. (Das sehen übrigens auch manche der Beteiligten so.) Davon abgesehen ist die Serie sehr schön. Auch zu empfehlen: Die erste Serie 'Long way round'.

As a child, Julia was promised to Richard Allen, a nobleman's son. His father wanted her parents' money, her own father wanted a title for his daughter. But the children hated each other at first sight. Long grown up, Julia finally sees a chance to get out of the unwanted engagement when Richard has disappeared from England for so long that she can officially declare him dead. But just then he returns to England and the two find that they may actually like each other now that they aren't angry children anymore. But then Richard is found out by his father, who still wants to force him into this marriage to get rid of his debts. He doesn't stop at anything to achieve his goal, and the Mallorys, whom Julia has befriended, are the only ones who can help. But there's bad blood between them and Richard...

This is a nice romance novel and I enjoyed it. Some of it is a bit contrived, and I feel that Lindsey is really trying to force another connection to the Mallorys. This isn't that convincing after she has gone through a whole load of Mallory brothers and relatives. Now it's friends and aquaintances of the family. But all in all, I enjoyed the book, with its trademark sense of humour and the characters I have come to like. It's definitely worth reading.
